Troops at 377th Vehicle Ops Flight recently transported a H-53 Helicopter recovered from Socorro NM for the 551st Special Operations. It was in the middle of a refueling when a wind gust caused it to tap the C-130 and forced an emergency landing. Even though they had to partially dismantle the aircraft to load it and fought high winds during loading and movement this group of professionals from Kirtland AFB recovered this high dollar asset without incident. Six Operators with 3 different rigs were: SSgt Michael Cmelik, Amn Darius Justice, SSgt Darrell Wagner, AIC Jaycee Roman, SSgt Brent Bobbitt and Amn Jeffrey Thomas. |
